GearScore

GearScore the woes of this particular little addon, that some bad Shaman on Detheroc created to make his PuGing life easier.

This particular addon has done nothing but cause heartbreak and annoyance toward myself and my friends.

A few situations I've encountered involved me trying to get into a PuG ToGC 10. I easily pull 5.2k DPS self buffed in my Ulduar level gear (Currently 4827 gearscore) well, here it goes. I look in trade chat and see "LF1M DPS for ToGC10 | Good Group | Skill at least|" I send this person a PM saying "Enhance Shaman, I can pull 5.2k Self Buffed and cleared ToGC's first 3 bosses week one, know rest of the fights"

You know what I get back "Oh sorry we brought in an SPriest, your gearscore was lower." First of all, when did a SPriest EVER out DPS an Enhancement Shaman, let alone myself. Secondly to completely disregard my gear and playing as "Subpar" because a stupid fucking addon tells you my number is too low? That's the most ignorant and stupid thing I've ever fucking heard.

So basically, being able to put out higher throughput in lesser numbers makes me somehow less qualified to take part in a ToGC raid, I don't know... I do know this though. GearScore is a worthless add-on that a lot of people use too religiously and hold on too closely.

If anything this needs to be changed in my honest opinion, some way to block it or another. Or have it integrated or something much like how LFG is set up now, where it is lenient but fair allowing people who are geared ON PAR for it (As in 25k life DCapped for a normal heroic as a tank, not 70k life and 100% avoidance or something stupid)

tl:dr GearScore needs to be changed or outdated.

Paladin Ding 80

After a long days work and trying for ages my Paladin has dinged in level 80. I'll be spamming Heroics as a Healer today changing both my specs so my Main Spec is Holy and off spec is PvP Protribution.

As you can see I'm actually quite excited of the possibilities of what I can achieve now. The sky is the limit and Red Bull gives you wings. I'm gonna go fly baby and kick some ass as a Paladin.

Project Protadin Ding 72!

Like I've said before, I will be focusing primarily on my Paladin with my Warlock as a side project as an "alt" perse.

Well my Protadin dinged in 72, I've been looking at TankSpot and find that the class actually isn't that difficult. The class follows a strict rotation that you can make or change depending on the situation, which I agree with.

But to talk about this level, yeah it was long. It took me pretty much the last half of Howling Fjord and little bit of Borean to ding in, but instances help. (I'm amazed how quick I group being a tank and all)

But my Paladin is quite fun and I look forward to updating you all :D

Thank you!

Project Warlock Ding 60 (Is 61 currently)

Well, I'm back after all this time and Aarlton is currently level 61. I have a screenie of level 60 and a video but none of 61 sadly.

Although, when I dinged 60 I tried all the specs, Meta, Chaos Bolt and Haunt. Sadly Haunt is still the best and Affliction is still rolling as my spec.

My rotation now is, Haunt > Unstable Affliction > Corruption > CoA > Drain.

With this I burst very well and have really good health regen and all the abilities land before the target even reaches me. It's a very good concept.

Also continual updates will be posted and a second "Project" is going on with me. I'm beginning to level a Protection Paladin I had at level 62, she is currently 70 and has a full Cobalt set and I'm loving the spec.

She is Alsonia on Thrall US, check her out :D

I'M BACK!

Sadly for those who enjoyed the progress on my Warlock, I'm leveling a Paladin currently. I'm considering leveling her up to 80 first then going back to my Lock or just getting my Lock to 70, sitting around a bit and then getting the Pally to 80.

But to be 100% sure I will update both characters, possibly one Pally level per day and maybe 1-2 in Outland for my Warlock.

But the good news is I'll be updating again :D=

Project Warlock Level 51

I spent a vast majority of this level in Hinterlands (Again) I basically did all the available Troll quests and all in all was quite quick.

Although as you know I got Unstable Affliction at 50. I tried it, and I hated it. So much for being excited no? Well I did a little "research" and learned I was doing it wrong to begin with. You're supposed to pull w/ CoA and put Corruption on the target then. No Immolate.

So I took Immolate out of my rotation, and bam DPS increase. I would solo mobs quicker but I felt like I was missing something especially on AoE. So I randomly ran in and decided to UA > CoA > Corr and Drain Tank. I learned my new speciality.

Project Warlock Ding 50

This level was mainly spent in The Hinterlands (The zone North-east of Hillsbrad) The zone was just perfect, great quests littered very close together and they were relatively quick and rewarded very good experience (7,000 -8,000)

I grinded about 60k xp in about 45 minutes of doing quests alone in the zone. My one pet peeve was the Highbourne Lodge. The mobs there pull way too close to each other. I would pull one and have to fear bomb. Funny story though I forgot my pet had to run all the way around to get in when I jumped and oh boy, had to fear bomb and it didn't make things easier. 3 Minutes later I had about 13 corpses to loot.

Same thing happened on the escort out of the lodge. I swear those Elves hate Undead.

Project Warlock Ding 49

A while ago I dinged 49, but being the idiot I was I didn't update here until now (And I am currently 50 and will be posting that after this)

I cleared up a good bit in Tanaris and damn was it fun, southern Tanaris really takes the cake compared to northern Tanaris, the quests are much closer together and quicker. Where as Northern Tanaris was composed of a lot of grindy quests.

Both aspects are good but I prefer quick to grindy

Project Warlock Ding 48

I just dinged 48, I spent the first half of the level grinding easy green mobs in Feralas. I mean come on, this stuff is just too easy when done right. It's also very boring, the last levels before Outland suck. Although I guess it's worth it in the end when I get to the level and get new spells.

On the second half I really enjoyed grinding the top half of Tanaris, it's a very fun zone good variety. I practiced CC, kiting and AoEing again. When i had to go to Rigger Cove I managed to practice my health and drain management. Tell my Felpup to Shadow Bite the target with both affliction spells on it etc.

On my way to Org to train then back to Gadgetzan to continue leveling :D

Project Warlock (DING 47!)

I once again, didn't play much yesterday, maybe an hour's worth of time? I don't know, but Tanaris really helped my overall productivity. A lot of quests in that zone rely on very similar mobs in very similar areas.

The zone is compact with mobs so fear keeps a good chain to allow quicker grinding all that good stuff. The last half of my level took place in Feralas, which is arguably just as good just more spread out.

I can't wait for 50 though, Unstable Affliction looks fun as hell to play with!

Ding 46!

And damn just when I thought that Stranglethron Vale was over BAM I take a trip back there for another full level. (Which was very quick I might add)

But severely out leveling the zone made this time a walk in the park, I would pull 7-8 mobs and just corruption them down. I can't wait for Seed of Corruption even more AoE fun. Shame that's at level 70 = \

Oh well, I'm going to finish up this beautiful zone we call Stranglethorn as I'm visiting it for the last time QQ and move on Tanaris and Feralas for more similar level fun. Until I outlevel that zone too >_>

Ding 45!

Another long day, I don't play much. My eyes have been killing me. The frequency of this should change once I hit Outland but until then, it will be slow. Like I was talking to me friend about, I personally cannot wait for Cataclysm. After doing 1-60 over 10 times, I'm about fed up with it. It's old, boring, repetitive and just flat out crappy.

But, 45 was fun. I did the last bit of Swamp of Sorrows and Badlands (Thank god) both are pretty bland zones currently and I expect them to be so too in Cataclysm but oh well. Right?

Anyways, one more level then instant Howl of Terror and even quicker leveling!

Ding 44

I technically did this before the Saint's/Atlanta game, but I really kinda stopped playing to watch the game, then came back and played Audiosurf for about 3 hours.

But this level was once again another great level, spent minimal time I got about half of it in Stranglethorn Vale and the other half in Dustwallow both which I have mentioned as fantastic grinding spots. This time though I did the southern half of the zone all with the Onyxia quests and fun stuff like that :D

When the servers come back up I'll keep you updated :D

Ding 43

Totally forgot to play or update today.

Once again another fine level of questing in STV I loved it. The level was quick simple and fun, especially fear bombing the boats off the coast of Booty Bay. But TBH is Loremaster really that important to where you NEED to steal quest mobs from people leveling.

And for christ's sake people, what is with you and Bloodsail Buccaneer, it's not that important or noteworthy.

Ding 42

After a boring grind fest in Swamp of Sorrows and Badlands I finally dinged 42. It was worth the wait, Death Coil is great and Shadow Bite on my Felpup just makes grinding easier because specced for him I can continually Dark Pact him with no reprecussion.

Anyways I'm out for the night all here is a nice little pic for you to check have fun :D

Ding 41

After cruising along in Dustwallow I kinda hit a speed bump in Arathi Highlands. The Stormgarde Keep quests are good an all for grinding but for christ's sake I swear I'm the worst about forgetting to renew Demon Armor.

Naturally I was bottoming out on HP left and right wondering why, after 10 minutes of that escapade I realized why and damn did it halt me.

I'm currently half way to 42 (Then I can use my Felpuppy ^_^) and heading to Swamp of Sorrows.

Side Note : I got Enchanting to 215 Skill :D

Pic :

Tomorrow expect a Compilation for levels 30-40 in a short video on my YouTube channel :D

Ding 40

I'm movin' on up. I hit 80 in Dustwallow, and damn is that zone a fantastic place for grinding too. Once again close quests little to no downtime and bam level in less than an hour.

Although this level did sorta suck because I was rolling a 1k+ ping the whole level but that's beside the point.

As I speak I'm currently headed to UC to train in Epic Riding so I can level quicker now. Also side note level 40 talent Dark Pact. It's a fantastic ability, I can't wait for my Felhutner to get Shadow Bite now w/ the Felhunter spec.

Slight edit : Photobucket linking or ImageShack? Your call :D

Ding 39

While waiting for my boat to Ratchet to head to Dustwallow Marsh I figured I'd update. Today has been rather slow, I spent most setting up a virtual machine to run the PTR on (Which is currently downloading WoW)

But after dinging 39 I remember why I love Stranglethorn Vale. Not spread out and it's perfect for grinding which makes it perfect for leveling. One more level to my Epic mount and I can then leveling slightly faster.

Also how does the UI look?

DING! 38

After dicking around half the day at 37 I finally dinged 38 which took way too long, but all in all an hour played for that level not AFK ain't too bad.

Basically Desolace, great zone but it gets dull very quick fantastic grind zone though. I did enjoy talking to my friend tabbing out often though. <3 instandeath

Photobucket

Level 37

I dinged 37
Photobucket

I learned this level that I hate Arathi Highlands it's a very bland zone not very fun at all, but I also learned how valuable Spell Power is for Affliction. I gained roughly 40 SP and I just destroy things now and they don't have a chance.

Last comment (I had to grind 20,000 xp) that sucks.
